About Barr Kennels

Barr Kennels is located in between Abilene, TX and Albany, TX in a small community of Hamby on County Road 100 right in the Middle of some of the most productive wild Bob White Quail country during the last 30yrs. This population of wild birds allowed Wes and Brenda Barr to build a business that was based on Breeding and training some of the best Wild bird dogs in the country and offering high quality wild bird hunts. Wes Barr’s first exposure to working with bird dogs came in 1972 when he helped a nearby part time Bird dog trainer and garage owner with chores around the shop and the kennels. From that exposure and Forty years later Barr Kennels has grown to a 100 run breeding, training and boarding operation that has achieved international recognition. Our kennels have won National Championships in in both American Field and National Shoot To Retrieve Field Trial Associations.

Although the Wild Bob White population has drastically fallen off, our goals are still basically the same. We strive to breed and train some the best hunting and field trial dogs in the USA and Canada as well as high quality action packed released bird hunts for the discriminating hunters.
